I'm from California, but I go to the University of Alabama, majoring in chemical engineering. I came here because this university gives better scholarships than I've ever seen anywhere else, by far. I'm a very relaxed guy, more at ease hanging out with a small group of close friends than at a large party of strangers. I love games (table top, board, computer, video, you name it), especially when I get to play with friends. I played football in high school and going to UA has only increased my love of the game. I fear an unlived life more than dying. My five year plan is as follows: step 1, see the world; step two, have adventures. I'm an artistically driven guy working on my Master's degree in Tuscaloosa. I appreciate the small and meaningful moments in life that many pass without perception. I was raised in a small town, and went to college here in the state. I lived for a while in a large metropolitan area, and I like life in the city equally to rural Alabama life.

OK...where to begin? I'm new to this so bear with me. I grew up in North and South Carolina but most of my family is from South Carolina. I've spent the last six years in the army, stationed at Ft Benning, GA between deployments. Army life has been hell on any relationship I've had since. I just came out of the army after 6 years. I just moved to Tuscaloosa and I'm attending UA. I'm in the Pre Law program.

I'm kind of a mixed bag when it comes to my interest. At heart, I'm 100% pure, southern country boy. I love all things outdoors to include camping, hiking, fishing, kayaking and riding motorcycles. On the flipside, I've also traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia, I love reading about any kind of history or philosophy. I love art histoy and I think that Les Miserables, and Phantom of the Opera are two of the greatest stories ever told. I love reading most any piece of Russian literature. I'm happy going to see a band at some hole in the wall bar or watching live theatre, and pretty much aanything in between. I'm usually attracted to my exact opposite personality. I tend to do better when I can have someone to balance me out.

I'm honest to a fault (I'm serious, it gets me in trouble alot). I expect honesty in someone else as well. I'm extremely sarcastic. My biggest turn off is dumb women. I'm 51 years old, divorced, an RN, and the manager of a busy mental health unit. I try to stay easy-going and I always look for the humor or the good in any situation. That being said, I'm sick of putting up with everyone's bullshit. I don't need no drama, so keep that shit outta here.

I love a good conversation about anything I have the smarts to talk about(which doesn't seem to be much), but I'm never afraid hide my ignorance my yelling.

Turns out, alot of the things I think are important usually aren't, so, I got that going for me.

I am a senior at the University of Alabama studying telecommunications and film with a media production focus. I've got two minors as well, computer science and psychology.

I often like to think in terms of color or texture.
Art in all forms is valuable - but I keep in mind that even if I don't like something, that doesn't mean its not art. I find visual media to be the most inciting.

I'm not a fan of Mediocrity primped, preened, and poised as if its not mediocre (i.e., Michael Bay... sigh).

I'm can be a serious analytical person, but am also very playful and child like at the same time. I've been told people tend to love me, but I often don't let many get too close.

I'm here to compare tests and match/enemy %s with my friends, many of whom are from SE++. I enjoy reading, playing video games, rockwall climbing, swing dance, college football, writing, and philosophy.

I'm a little shy with people I don't know, but I become very outgoing very fast the more I get to know people. I'm a good listener, and generally prefer to listen to what people have to say before I get to know them.

I am very opinionated about things and very stubborn. I am not afraid to speak my mind about things. I tend to be polarizing: the people who like me really like me, the people who don't really don't. I always try my best in anything that I do. I refuse to give half-assed efforts. I firmly believe that anything worth doing is worth doing well. As a result, I tend to be competitive about a lot of things, and I love good competition. Occasionally I like to kick ass and chew bubble gum. However I have been without bubblegum for quite some time.

I love excuses to dress classy or wear a suit (given my career interests, I'd say that's a good thing).

my name is beth. i have been listening to the original cast soundtrack to a very potter musical nonstop on repeat for the past who knows how many weeks. i have a problem. i also don't care. i used to be fond of cherry cough drops until i ate sixty in a day. now i hate them. i beat super paper mario on the wii in a month, exactly. to the day. like, i began on december 27th and ended on january 27th. crazy, huh? i want to be a journalist. i starred in a production of a midsummer night's dream. it was the most fun i've ever had. i got to wear a neon 80's prom dress. i've seen every episode of house three times, a lot of them more than that. i suck at baking. i'm adopted. i was born in condom, france. or was i? did i just put that because i think it's awesome that a town is named condom? who knows. i sure as heck don't. my favorite fruit is a banana, followed by watermelon, then grapes. i drink like, four glasses of milk a day. no joke. i'm addicted. i have destroyed two microwaves, but neither of them was on purpose. the colbert report makes me understand politics. i love helen keller jokes, but i hate people with dirty minds. i also hate people who respond to things that they approve of with "roll tide!" believe me, i know people who do. i pop my knuckles/fingers far more often than is healthy. in kindergarten, i cheated on a test because i forgot what the color orange looked like. i am obsessed with the people of starkidpotter, and i WILL travel to ann arbor, michigan, to visit them! i love to act and i've been in tons of plays.

Basically, I am a MESS. In the past year I have lived in 2 states, 3 cities, and 5 different locations. I am a veteran of the Iraqi war, but no longer have obligations to the military. I might re-enlist someday, but thats not happening any time soon. I landed a good job, and will be starting soon. I am expecting to travel a lot for work, so if you are the kind of girl that needs daily attention, you might want to look elsewhere. I enjoy the simple things in life, and am very easily entertained. I have a 4 month old pit bull puppy who is the sweetest dog on the planet. I have 5 tattoos and I am planning on getting more. (Also, my roommate is a tattoo artist). I attended the University of Alabama for 2 years before I was shipped off to Iraq. I haven't started back yet, but I do plan on getting a degree in the next 10 years (I'm not in big hurry) I am a very caring, loyal, and loving person. I hope to find true love one day because what is life without someone special to share it with?

I am a slightly old fashioned in some of my values, confident in my abilities, and a combination of bookish and active. I love good movies (both new ones and especially older classics), travel, finding and dining at restaurants with a ton of local color and cuisine, laughing, going to sporting events, bowling, visiting historic sites, going to plays, musuems, playing with my dog, and spending time with my friends and family. I can be goofy at times, but I also enjoy good intelligent conversation.

I love poetry, photography, painting, and film. I cannot get enough hot tea in my life. And I'm a distinctive feminist with roots in psychology and literature.

I suppose I was always destined to teach in some capacity. Whatever grade of school I happened to be in, I wanted to teach. After years on the academic job market, I've now achieved that at the undergraduate/graduate level. (Best to avoid adult education for now, I suspect.)

As a slender, allergic, highly sensitive child, I was naturally on track to be bookish and nerdy. Fortunately for me, microcomputers were just coming into an affordable range when I was a kid, so I logged many computer hours as well as reading hours. My preferences now run towards science fiction and fantasy, though I went through periods where I read mystery, horror and non-fiction when I was younger.

I enjoy movies, games (both computer and non) and just about anything which might be labeled intellectual (preferably without the pretension). I'd rather talk about the meaning of life than the last bowl game. I follow political blogs more often than may be healthy for me; fortunately, the Daily Show can put such matters into proper perspective.
